We applied 40 (yes 40) coats of this formula without any clumping

A powerhouse in make-up, Mac is loved by professional artists and celebrities alike, with popular lipstick formulas, setting sprays and complexion products being part of its coveted arsenal.

Its biggest launch of the year has just been announced. The brand’s all-new stack mascara (£26, Maccosmetics.co.uk) launching 1 March, claims to be a disruptor to the market with its innovative formula and brush. It’s taken two years to develop and promises to provide length, volume, lift and curl.

Never one to miss a major make-up moment, we got our hands on the latest product ahead of its launch. Even more excitingly, our reviewer dubbed it her favourite Mac mascara yet.

During testing, our writer went from a “few strokes of natural definition perfect for daywear to up to 40 (yes, we counted) lashings of mascara”, which rivalled “the volume, length, lift and curls of false lashes”. They also found the formula to be one of the most buildable on the market.

When Mac broke the news that it was launching its all-new mascara, it offered free samples to celebrate. All you had to do was fill in an online form on the brand’s website, but as expected, these flew off the shelves and are now sadly all gone.

But fear not, because the Mac stack mascara (£26, Maccosmetics.co.uk) will be available to buy from 1 March. But, if your make-up bag is in need of a new lash formula before then, the magic extension mascara (£20, Boots.com) received high praise when we reviewed it.

Last summer, Mac’s magic extension mascara proved so popular that it had a 132,000-person waitlist. So, naturally, we put it to the test to see what the fuss was about. It “contains one of the longest fibres on the market – 5mm-long fibres to be exact”, which our writer found created a “false-lash effect” that made their lashes “thicker, fuller and longer”.

As brands go, “Mac knows how to make high-performing cosmetics, and this is another option to add to its long line of hits that will no doubt be another bestseller for the make-up brand”, added our tester. A great option if you can’t wait to get your hands on the all-new stack mascara (£26, Maccosmetics.co.uk).

The product in question. The all-new stack mascara promises to be the brand’s best one yet. It wowed us when we reviewed it. Our writer praised it for the fact it “doesn’t feel heavy or crispy like some volume formulas” and their lashes stayed “weightless and soft, and, most importantly, in place without any flaking or smudging throughout the day” – even after 40 applications. If that’s not enough persuasion, they noted that it’s “certainly up there among the best” mascaras.

If you missed out on nabbing a free sample, fear not, as you can sign up to hear as soon as the mascara officially launches. Sure, it won’t be free, but as this latest drop might sell out fast, we’d suggest you get ahead of the curve.
